The long-awaited project to duplicate the A-491 in Rota is nearing realization. The execution contract is anticipated to be definitively awarded in approximately one month, following the evaluation of 24 bids submitted by interested companies. This initiative, with a budget close to 43 million euros, is vital for one of the main access routes to the town, which handles an average daily traffic of about 16,000 vehicles.
Once the tender is formalized, there will be an estimated one-month period before the works commence, placing the start of construction during the upcoming summer. In addition to widening the road, the project includes improvements to the pavement and access points to key locations such as the municipal cemetery and the El Bercial area, aiming to optimize both road safety and traffic flow in the corridor.
“"This infrastructure is a historical demand from Rota and seeks to improve both road safety and traffic capacity in one of the municipality's main corridors."
In the healthcare sector, progress has also been announced for the future Rota health center. The necessary credit to finance this infrastructure has been approved, with an estimated investment of 9.9 million euros. Following economic approval, a topographical survey will be conducted, a preliminary step before drafting the tender specifications for the new healthcare facility's construction.
The new health center, which will double the current facility's area to 3,800 square meters, will feature 15 medical consultation rooms, seven pediatric consultation rooms, two primary care emergency areas, and a dedicated mental health unit. The expectation is that this healthcare infrastructure will begin to materialize during 2027. These announcements are made within the context of the Andalusian election campaign, where road and healthcare infrastructures are central themes of political debate in the province of Cádiz.
