The Málaga City Council has officially presented the IRONMAN 70.3 Málaga, a new race set to take place on October 18th, expecting to gather more than 3,000 triathletes from around the world.

The capital of the Costa del Sol will be the stage for the inaugural edition of IRONMAN 70.3 Málaga, a premier sporting event that will bring together over 3,000 international triathletes. The official presentation was attended by Borja Vivas Jiménez, Councilor for Sports of the Málaga City Council; Juan Rosas Gallardo, Vice President and Deputy for Sports of the Málaga Provincial Council; and Agustí Pérez, Senior Regional Director for Southern Europe at The IRONMAN Group.
Institutional representatives highlighted the event's significance for the city and province, emphasizing its sporting, tourist, and economic impact. Borja Vivas Jiménez noted that the race places Málaga on the map of cities hosting major sporting events, alongside New York, Sydney, and Melbourne.
Juan Rosas underscored the province's commitment to triathlon and the values of effort and discipline promoted by the competition, as well as its tourism appeal for athletes of various nationalities.
Agustí Pérez expressed his pride in launching IRONMAN 70.3 Málaga, highlighting the extraordinary response from the IRONMAN community and the city's appeal as a sports destination, with fast and largely flat courses that favor performance.
The first edition will feature 65 professional male triathletes competing for victory, in addition to thousands of age-group participants. The course will consist of a 1.9-kilometer swim, a 90-kilometer cycle, and a 21.1-kilometer run, traversing emblematic landscapes of the city and the Costa del Sol.
This event reinforces Málaga's commitment to major international sporting events and expands the IRONMAN brand's presence in Andalusia, generating significant economic returns and global promotion.
