The socialist group has reported that records from municipal monitoring stations indicate a deterioration in air quality since the current model was launched. According to their estimates, pollution levels have increased at the North and Congress stations, thus questioning the effectiveness of the measures adopted to restrict vehicular traffic.
For its part, the Mobility department has rejected these criticisms, arguing that the data reflect a significant improvement compared to previous years. The government team has pointed out that nitrogen dioxide, the main indicator linked to traffic, has experienced a reduction of around 20% since the system was activated.
The local executive has attributed the negative variations recorded in recent months to external factors, such as calima episodes, which increase suspended particles. They have also defended their management, stressing that constant monitoring of environmental indicators is being carried out to evaluate the operation of the regulations.
