The hospitality sector in San Fernando has positively assessed Easter Week 2026, benefiting from good weather, although the absence of the Minibasket tournament negatively impacted establishments outside the city center.
One week after the conclusion of Easter Week, hospitality businesses in San Fernando have reviewed the festive period. Favorable weather, which allowed all brotherhoods to parade, was a key factor for the sector, which had hoped this period would help them recover from recent storms that had affected their operations.
The Association of Merchants, Professional Services, Hoteliers and Industries of San Fernando (Acosafe) expressed satisfaction with the results. Manuel Luna, the association's president, highlighted that “bars and restaurants in the city center and surrounding streets were full. The good weather translated into higher sales, which was very important after the complicated months of storms.”
“
"San Fernando's Easter Week is a benchmark, and that is noticeable in the streets. We must thank the institutions and collectives that make it possible. An Ayuntamiento that adorns the city and a Local Council of Brotherhoods and Confraternities that conveys the respect that should define Easter Week."
Meanwhile, the Isleña Association of Hospitality and Tourism (Asihtur) shares the overall positive assessment but notes that the prosperity was not uniform. Many establishments further from the center missed the Minibasket tournament, a sporting event that typically brought around 4,000 people to the city each Easter Week, generating numerous bookings. This year and in 2023, the tournament was held in Catalonia.
“
"The weather was good, and that meant that the terraces and dining rooms of establishments in the historic center and streets near the procession routes registered full capacity. On that side, hoteliers are very satisfied, but on the other hand, many associates who are not in those areas have told us that they missed a Minibasket that came to the city every year and brought many families who consumed and booked large tables."
Easter Week is consolidating its position as a provincial religious reference, contributing to the revitalization of the local economy, where the hospitality sector plays a fundamental role. Asihtur also actively participated in the campaign “Your respect, part of our passion,” promoted by the Local Council of Brotherhoods and Confraternities to encourage respectful enjoyment of the festivities.
