The Plenary of the Chiclana City Council approved in its August session the contract for the maintenance of public lighting, awarded to Moneleg, and a modification of the fiscal ordinance to support the agricultural sector.

The Municipal Corporation of Chiclana approved in its August Plenary the contract for the maintenance, conservation, and improvement of public lighting installations and the municipal remote management system. The Chiclana-based company Moneleg has been awarded the contract for an annual amount of 657,030 euros, with an initial duration of three years, extendable to five. The proposal received favorable votes from the PSOE, IU, PP, and non-attached councilors, while Vox abstained.
The municipal delegate for Urban Maintenance and Energy, Mari Ángeles Martínez Rico, highlighted the importance of this essential service, noting that the new contract represents a greater economic effort and includes 873 additional light points compared to the previous one. "We have more light points, more facilities to maintain, and, above all, more lighting projects ahead that we want to continue developing," she stated.
Martínez Rico explained that new lighting projects are being developed and actions are being implemented to "continue transforming the city," bringing public services to more areas where urban conditions permit.
In another item, the Plenary unanimously approved the definitive modification of the fiscal ordinance regulating property tax to support the agricultural sector. The delegate for Economic Promotion, Manuela Pérez, indicated that this measure establishes a fiscal benefit for properties linked to agricultural activity, recognizing the role of agriculture in sustainability and valuing local products.
Furthermore, a fourth credit modification was approved for 420,557.17 euros, allocated to various departments including Culture, Promotion, Social Services, Tourism, Sports, Festivals, Treasury, Urban Maintenance, Local Police, and Presidency. This proposal was supported by the PSOE, IU, and non-attached councilors, with abstentions from the PP and Vox.
Two proposals from the PSOE were unanimously approved: one concerning the financing of the dependency care system and another related to the comprehensive attention for students with specific educational support needs (NEAE). Both urge the Junta de Andalucía to fulfill its responsibilities.
The delegate for Social Services, Francis Salado, called for a reduction in waiting lists for dependency benefits, an improvement in the intensity and quality of services received by users, and better working conditions for caregivers.
The delegate for Education, María José Batista, emphasized the need to cover all positions for technical specialists in social services (PTIS), therapeutic pedagogy (PT), and audiology and language (AL), as well as fixed ratios per NEAE student.
