The eleventh edition of the flamenco festival in San Fernando, 'La Isla Ciudad Flamenca', is now in its last week of activities. The program will run until Monday, August 31st, keeping the city alive with flamenco through performances, talks, and exhibitions.
The final stretch begins this Monday with Lola La Chiri performing at Lunes de la Abacería La Cañaílla, accompanied by Adriano Lozano on guitar. On Tuesday, Toñi Romero will present her show as part of the Flamenco en la Alameda series at the central alameda Moreno de Guerra.
On Wednesday, the Venta de Vargas will host a singing recital by Carolina Castilla as part of the Candlelight initiative. The following day, Thursday, Carmen La Shica will perform on the terrace of La Milonga, continuing the flamenco tour across various city locations.
The Friday will feature a significant cultural event: the Casa Natal de Camarón will host the talk 'Tiri Ti Tran Bahía. A journey through the performances of José Monje Cruz. San Fernando, Chiclana, Cádiz. 1950-1979', presented by Antonio Jiménez Cuenca and Carlos Fernández Rico. In the evening, the Venta de Vargas will showcase one of the week's highlight dance performances: La Rosa Negra, a French dancer arriving from the Arles FlamencA Festival, reinforcing the special bond between San Fernando and Arles.
On Saturday, flamenco will echo in two key venues. The Peña Camarón de la Isla will welcome Omar Fernández (guitar) and Carmela Gil (singing) at 10:00 PM. Later, at 11:00 PM, the Venta de Vargas will host a dance recital by Noelia Castillo.
On Sunday, the 'Atardeceres en la Bahía' (Sunsets in the Bay) event will take place at the Bahía Sur Maritime Promenade, featuring Pablo Lobo and his fusion flamenco proposal. This performance will serve as a prelude to the official closing.
The closing ceremony of this eleventh edition will be held on Monday, August 31st, at Abacería La Cañaílla with 'Rumbaleando'. The festival aims to solidify its commitment to bringing flamenco closer to the public, blending established and emerging artists across traditional and new stages.
