The mayor, José María Román, visited the exhibition, which commemorates the 150th anniversary of Chiclana being granted city status by Alfonso XII in 1876. During the event, a special postmark used by the city's two Correos offices today to mark correspondence was unveiled.
The exhibition, organized by the ODA Philatelic Association, featured 17 philatelic collections and historical items. It included informative panels on the history of Spain in the late 19th century, stamps from the era, labels from old Chiclana wineries—the main reason for the city title—and comparative photographs of the city over time.
Román highlighted the importance of such exhibitions in bringing people from across the province together, emphasizing that the show will serve as a historical record of the anniversary. He thanked the ODA Association for their work.
Manuel Manzorro, president of ODA, noted the exhibition's great success and confirmed it would remain open to the public until Friday. Juan Diego Panés, director of Correos, expressed his pleasure in collaborating with these initiatives, confirming that all correspondence sent today would bear the commemorative postmark.
