The CCOO Teaching Union in Almería has reiterated its support for the demands of this group, which has been advocating for stability for over 15 years, addressing a structural situation affecting professionals crucial for educational inclusion.
Key reasons for this mobilization include part-time work and discontinuous contracts, which create significant economic insecurity and hinder work-life balance. They also denounce the lack of professional recognition and the continued reliance on an outsourced service model, which leads to job precarity and reduced quality of care.
“"The strike on May 13 is presented as a necessary response to the lack of progress and as a defense of both the labor rights of workers in the sector and the public education system."
Furthermore, the union has warned about the progressive deterioration of resources allocated to diversity support, resulting in increased workload for staff and a direct impact on the most vulnerable students. According to CCOO, current policies mean “fewer resources and more exclusion in the Andalusian public education system.”
The workers demand equal working and salary conditions, aligning with PTIS staff of the Junta de Andalucía, as well as full-time contracts for the entire school year. They also call for the public reintegration of outsourced services, recognition of their educational work, increased staffing, and full compliance with their rights by companies. To ensure these demands are met, CCOO urges the Andalusian Public Employment Agency (APAE) to maintain “strict oversight” to guarantee workers' rights and full compliance with the XVI Collective Bargaining Agreement for Centers and Services for People with Disabilities.
