The special machinery acquired for the travertine of the new Paseo de Almería and Plaza Vieja is delivering "very good results," according to the Councilor for Environmental and Energy Sustainability, Antonio Urdiales. The high-pressure washer, nicknamed 'Kärcher', is now being deployed in other squares in the Almería capital to remove "difficult stains" that "literally vanish."
This equipment has already been used in Plaza Pavía and public spaces in the Barrio Alto. Its ability to remove tough residues while minimizing the use of chemicals and water consumption will continue its route through the city.
The new cleaning contract will incorporate more similar equipment, equipped with 1,000-liter tanks and high-drag systems for areas with heavy pedestrian traffic. They also feature a floor scrubber hood with a special 'gum remover' nozzle to precisely target chewing gum adhesion without damaging the floor.
All new equipment will comply with the specification of being low-emission, prioritizing compressed natural gas (CNG) and zero-emission engines, as part of the complete machinery renewal.
