The Rojiblanco club benefits from a 20% clause on future capital gains. The sale of Samú Costa for 22 million euros to the Saudi team, where Cristiano Ronaldo (owner of 25% of Almería's shares) plays, has generated 3.8 million euros for the Almería entity.
Three years ago, the Portuguese midfielder was transferred for 3 million euros in an exchange with Iddrisu Baba. Almería had initially paid over 5 million euros for Samú Costa in 2020, first on loan from SC Braga and then permanently. After 113 matches, the player moved to Real Mallorca in 2023 for 3 million euros.
This operation represents a key source of income for the economy of Real Mallorca, which is undergoing restructuring after its unexpected relegation to the Second Division. The 22 million euros obtained are fundamental for the financial stability of the Balearic club, which aims for promotion.
The summer has been positive in terms of revenue for Almería, which has already earned 1 million for Bruno Langa and Marko Perovic, 1.5 million for Juan Manuel Gutiérrez, 3.5 million fixed for Marko Milovanovic, and 13 million for Dion Lopy, totaling 23.8 million euros. The club still expects a significant offer for Sergio Arribas before the market closes on September 1st.
Regarding new signings, the team managed by García Pimienta still needs to strengthen the squad with a left-back, one or two midfielders, and a forward.
