Last Sunday, the Municipal Football Field in Las Norias, El Ejido, hosted a large community day organized by Las Norias CF. The event served as the official presentation of all the club's teams, bringing together players, directors, and numerous families in a festive atmosphere.
The celebration was attended by prominent local authorities, including the mayor of El Ejido, Francisco Góngora, and the Sports Councilor, María José Martín. Both shared the day with the club's president, Rafael Sánchez, his Board of Directors, and the president of the Local Board, Carlos Martín Loro, all of whom emphasized the club's importance in youth development.
“"Las Norias CF is a clear example of the fundamental role that sports clubs play in the formation of our young people, not only in the sporting field, but also in promoting healthy lifestyle habits."
During the current season, Las Norias CF has consolidated its structure with a total of 361 registered players, distributed across 20 male football teams ranging from baby to senior categories. Furthermore, the club demonstrates its commitment to equality by having female representation in the alevín, cadete, juvenil, senior, and División de Honor categories, underscoring its strong dedication to grassroots football development in the province.
In terms of sports achievements, the club celebrates significant milestones, such as the cadete team being on the verge of promotion to Segunda Andaluza, the highest provincial category. The first team is fighting to maintain its position in Primera Andaluza senior, and the prebenjamín team also aims for promotion. The festive day included the presentation of recognition plaques, a giant paella for attendees, and various sports exhibitions, all enlivened with music.
The mayor took the opportunity to discuss with the club upcoming improvements and new sports facilities in the area. In this regard, a new sports center in Las Norias de Daza is currently in the bidding process, an infrastructure spanning 7,800 square meters with a budget of 1,382,210 euros. This project, part of the Comprehensive Action Plan for El Ejido (PAI), will be located next to the existing pavilion and football field.
The future sports complex will feature a multi-purpose court for basketball and volleyball, two glass-enclosed paddle tennis courts, a skate area, a pump track, and a 7-a-side football pitch with stands. Additionally, it will include covered picnic areas and bicycle parking, thereby promoting sustainable mobility. The design prioritizes sustainability and accessibility, incorporating trees, efficient irrigation systems, LED lighting, and drinking fountains, with the aim of fostering healthy lifestyles and boosting local economic activity.
