The district of Jauja will once again transform into the stage for the adventures of José María El Tempranillo this September with the performance of 'Tempranillo, from Man to Legend'. This theatrical proposal, which has carved out its own niche in the cultural and tourist agenda of Lucena, will be presented on September 25th at the Paseo Fluvial, on the banks of the Genil River.
The play, which combines history, tradition, music, and neighborhood participation, will continue the following day, September 26th, at the Municipal Auditorium 'Manuel Lara Cantizani'. This second performance aims to bring the play closer to the public of Lucena and surrounding municipalities, as highlighted by Francisco Barbancho, Councilor for Culture and Tourism.
Mercedes Osuna, district delegate of Jauja, emphasized the involvement of the entire town in this initiative, which contributes to the tourist promotion of the district. More than 50 actors and actresses, along with the Coro Rociero de Jauja, participate in the play, as well as numerous residents who work on rehearsals, decoration, costumes, and stage setup. The performance, coinciding with dates near World Tourism Day, offers an opportunity to showcase Jauja and its heritage.
Puri Marín, from the Foundation Lands of José María El Tempranillo, explained that the play begins with a pilgrimage to recreate the moment El Tempranillo takes to the mountains, and from there, it recounts his adventures and exploits through songs, games, and scenes linked to popular culture. The dynamic nature of the proposal and its open-air development at the Paseo Fluvial allow for a different theatrical experience, with participation from various generations. Each edition incorporates new elements, songs, and fandangos to maintain the proposal and continue consolidating it as a cultural and tourist benchmark for Jauja, a gathering that has attracted over 400 spectators in previous editions.
After the performance in Jauja, 'Tempranillo, from Man to Legend' will arrive at the Municipal Auditorium of Lucena on September 26th at 8:00 PM. Invitations for this function can be collected starting September 9th at the Culture office and the Public Library.
