The Delegate of Culture for the Cabra City Council, M. Sierra Sabariego, accompanied by Encarni Peña and Beatriz Godoy, heads of the local company ‘El Grillo Títeres’, has presented the third edition of the ‘Titiricabra’ Puppet Festival. The cultural event will take place from November 6 to 8, offering eight stage performances, a photographic exhibition, a conference, and a contest in the city's shops.
The shows will be held at the ‘El Jardinito’ Theater, the ‘Antonio Espinar Arcos’ Municipal Cinestudio, the Archaeological Museum, and the Plaza de España, catering to both family and adult audiences. Sabariego highlighted the public's response as an impetus to consolidate the initiative, stating that “we continue to bet on culture and promote the tradition of puppetry”.
“"There are many puppets that invite us to think"
For her part, Encarni Peña thanked the municipal support and the involvement of companies, technicians, and collaborators, noting that “betting on culture is also betting on our children, on families”. The festival aims to “bring culture to the streets, fill our spaces with life” and offer an opportunity for different generations to enjoy performing arts together.
The program begins on Friday, November 6, at the ‘El Jardinito’ Theater with the school performance ‘Amaranta’ by ‘El Grillo Títeres’ (11:00 AM), followed by ‘La niña de la jungla’ by ‘Festuc Teatre’ (7:00 PM). On Saturday the 7th, Plaza de España will host ‘Los viajes de Kobac’ by ‘La Nube Teatro’ (11:30 AM) and ‘Limonardo da Vinci’ by ‘Kalina Teatro’ (1:00 PM). In the afternoon, at the ‘El Jardinito’ Theater (7:00 PM), ‘Wendy también vuela’ by ‘Tresgracias’, aimed at an adult audience, will be presented.
On Sunday the 8th, Plaza de España will feature ‘Palabras coloreadas’ by ‘Andén Mágico’ (12:00 PM). The Archaeological Museum will host ‘Del cuento al títere’ (5:30 PM), a showcase of the work done by children in the puppet-making workshop, and the Municipal Cinestudio will conclude the stage program with ‘Rojo’ by ‘La Canela Títeres’ (6:00 PM).
Parallel activities include the photographic exhibition ‘Titiriteros’ by María José González de la Lastra (Casa de la Cultura, November 6-8) and the conference ‘La historia del títere en Andalucía’ by Francisco Cornejo Vega (Archaeological Museum, Saturday 7 at 5:30 PM).
As a novelty, the festival incorporates ‘En busca del títere’, a contest inviting children to find hidden characters in shop windows, thus involving local businesses in the initiative.
