The Regional Government of Andalusia has announced the imminent tender for the project to construct the new health center in the urban area of Cazorla, which will involve an investment of seven million euros and replace the old building.
The acting Minister of Health, Presidency, and Emergencies, Antonio Sanz, confirmed that the tender for the design of the new healthcare facility will be published in the coming days. This new center will be built on the same plot as the previous building, located in the town's urban center.
Sanz, accompanied by the mayor of Cazorla, José Luis Olivares, emphasized institutional collaboration to improve healthcare in the area. He recalled the dialogue held with the citizen platform and professionals to find the best solution, which has already begun with the opening of the Primary Care Emergency Service (SUAP) and will be completed with the new health center.
The new health center, which will span 2,300 square meters, will house consultations for Family Medicine, Nursing, and Pediatrics, as well as areas for healthcare support and community care. The first step will be the demolition of the previous building, expediting the process to start construction as soon as possible.
Meanwhile, the SUAP, located in the physiotherapy and rehabilitation building, has already attended to over 170 patients since it became operational last week. This service, operating from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM on weekdays and 24 hours on weekends and holidays, ensures continuity of care and improves access to emergency services within the urban area.
The minister highlighted that the SUAP's opening, completed in less time than initially planned, fulfills the commitment to provide a quick and viable solution before summer. The facility includes an emergency room, a multipurpose treatment and observation room, a standard medical consultation room, and facilities for on-call staff.
Additionally, a new type A1 ambulance has been added, bringing the total available vehicles to two, operating 24 hours a day. The building has functional autonomy thanks to a backup generator and independent utility connections. The Andalusian Health Service (SAS) has reorganized transport to the High Resolution Hospital for those in need.
Representatives of the citizen platform described the SUAP inauguration as a significant advancement, while emphasizing the need for details and timelines regarding the new health center. They thanked the minister for his willingness to consider their proposals and affirmed their continued advocacy for fair healthcare in the region.
