The Provincial Council of Jaén, through the Sustainable Tourism Destination Plan (PSTD) “OleotourJaén”, has established a new viewpoint in Albanchez de Mágina. This installation, named “Mirador de las mariposas” (Butterfly Viewpoint), is designed to evoke the rich biodiversity of the Sierra Mágina Natural Park and offer views of the characteristic mountain olive grove landscape.
Provincial deputy Francisco Reyes, accompanied by the mayor of the municipality, Diego Fernández, visited this space located at the entrance from Torres. Reyes highlighted the viewpoint's design, which identifies the biodiversity and landscape of Sierra Mágina, and framed it within a network of viewpoints distributed throughout the province to showcase the "sea of olive trees of Jaén" to tourists, emphasizing its value as a "main argument for visiting the province of Jaén".
The mayor of Albanchez de Mágina expressed his satisfaction with the new facility, calling it a "very original space" that beautifies the area for residents and visitors. The Ubeda-based company More&More Design was responsible for the design, with a special focus on butterflies, in homage to the numerous species of this insect and wild plants found in the Sierra Mágina Natural Park.
This initiative is part of the network of viewpoints promoted by the Diputación de Jaén to enhance the value of the olive grove landscape, within the PSTD OleotourJaén. This plan has a budget of 4.5 million euros, financed with Next Generation EU funds through the Recovery, Transformation, and Resilience Plan of the Central Government. The network includes 130 inventoried landscape viewpoints and specifically constructed artistic viewpoints in locations such as Albanchez, Úbeda, Jaén, Porcuna, and Orcera, as well as emblematic sites like Iznatoraf, Baños de la Encina, or Siete Pilillas in Pegalajar.
