The city of Seville is preparing for the celebration of Corpus Christi on Thursday, June 4, 2026. This festival, with deep-rooted traditions dating back to the Late Middle Ages, focuses on the veneration of the Eucharist and becomes one of the most significant public expressions of faith in the Andalusian capital each year.
The areas surrounding the Cathedral of Seville will come alive from early morning. Families and devotees will gather to witness the procession, in an atmosphere where the streets will be adorned with floral elements such as rosemary and rush, and balconies will be decorated with religious motifs.
The liturgical day will begin in the Cathedral with the recitation of Lauds and solemn Eucharist, presided over by Archbishop José Ángel Saiz Meneses. A notable moment will be the traditional dance of the Seises before the Blessed Sacrament, preceding the departure of the Arfe Monstrance.
Following the liturgical acts, the procession will begin its route at 10:30 AM from the Cathedral (Puerta de San Miguel), proceeding through Avenida de la Constitución, Plaza de San Francisco, Sierpes, Cerrajería, Cuna, Plaza del Salvador, Villegas, Francos, Placentines, and Cardenal Amigo Vallejo, returning to the Cathedral via the Puerta de los Palos around 12:30 PM.
The procession cortege will follow a strict ceremonial order. It will be led by the processional cross, accompanied by the carrancanos children, followed by brotherhoods of glory, the floats of Santa Ángela de la Cruz and Santas Justa y Rufina, brotherhoods of penance, the floats of San Isidoro and San Leandro, and sacramental brotherhoods. The clergy, the Cathedral Chapter, and presidencies will precede the Arfe Monstrance, carrying the Blessed Sacrament.
