The esplanade of the Circuit de Barcelona Catalunya filled with fans, athletes, and personalities for the second day of Graviteo. Despite the oppressive heat, large fans spraying water allowed attendees to enjoy the event, which reached its peak as the sun set with food trucks and sports and music activities.
Organized by Prensa Ibérica and Fira Circuit, with support from institutions like the Generalitat de Catalunya and the High Council for Sports, the festival featured international urban sports figures. Attendees could interact with athletes, getting photos and autographs, which brought sports closer to the public.
The Circuit de Barcelona Catalunya served as a major draw, not only for the competitions but also for the opportunity to see its facilities. "We came because we also wanted to see the circuit, as we've never been before," commented Dolor Ribalta, a director in women's football for Espanyol.
Abel García, General Secretary of the Department of Sports, highlighted the circuit's capacity as a venue for diverse activities. "It's an opportunity to show that it's a great venue for motor activities, but it can be a great venue for any type of activity," he stated, emphasizing its potential for alternative sports requiring specific infrastructure like climbing or skateboarding.
Bernat Clarella, president of the Mountain Sports Federation, described the event as a success, particularly in the climbing and Nordic walking disciplines, which saw nearly 200 participants. "We are achieving good sporting results, so the balance is very positive," he noted, although he acknowledged that the heat affected overall public attendance.
Clarella added that participation remained strong despite the high temperatures, with higher attendance in the late afternoon. The organization had to adjust the dates due to scheduling conflicts but plans to change them for next year to avoid extreme heat and attract more attendees.
