The decision by the Hermandad de la Macarena to bring the image of the Esperanza Macarena closer to the faithful during the 2026 Madrugá created a deeply emotional moment in Seville. Despite the imposed restrictions and distances, the brotherhood chose an unusual route that allowed devotees to see their Virgin up close.
The public, who had waited for hours on Alcázares Street, experienced a “miracle” when the Brotherhood diverted its path towards the City Hall barriers. This gesture was met with tears, prayers, and widespread gratitude from a Seville that, according to those present, felt “tired of restrictions and prohibitions.”
“"If the people cannot reach Her, She will reach the people. And so may it always be."
The initiative was widely praised, highlighting the work of the governing board for “delivering” the Esperanza to the people rather than “appropriating” it. This act of faith and closeness became one of the most significant moments of that year's Madrugá.
