Officers from the Traffic Detachment of the Civil Guard in San Juan de Aznalfarache, Seville, detected the car traveling at a speed nearly triple the permitted limit. Although the driver could not be immediately identified, subsequent investigations by the Traffic Research and Analysis Group (GIAT) led to their identification days later.
The individual is now under investigation for an alleged offense against road safety, classified under Article 379.1 of the Penal Code, due to excessive speed. This type of offense can result in prison sentences of three to six months, financial penalties, or community service.
In addition to potential criminal penalties, current legislation includes the revocation of the right to drive motor vehicles and mopeds for a period of up to four years. The Civil Guard emphasizes the critical importance of adhering to speed limits to prevent serious road accidents and reduce fatalities.
