Thus, the aim is to preserve its normal development, guaranteeing the safety of the procession and the presence of all brothers and devotees. It should be added that this measure is extraordinary and only applicable to this year, with the annual Sunday procession being maintained in future years.

The brotherhood of the Virgen de la Alegría in Seville has changed the date of its traditional procession, which will now take place on Saturday, May 16 instead of the usual Sunday, to avoid clashing with the Andalusian Parliament elections.
The call for elections to the Parliament of Andalusia, scheduled for Sunday, May 17, has caused an exceptional change in the calendar of the brotherhood of the Virgen de la Alegría. The image, which usually processes in mid-May on a Sunday, will now make its journey one day earlier.
This decision, unanimously agreed upon by the chapter and approved by the ecclesiastical authority, will allow the image of San Bartolomé to carry out its annual procession on Saturday, May 16. This is an unprecedented circumstance, as the procession traditionally takes place on a Sunday.
The brotherhood has emphasized that this modification is extraordinary and applies exclusively to this year. In the coming years, the procession of the Virgen de la Alegría will return to its usual Sunday date, thus maintaining tradition.
