The candidate for Adelante Andalucía for the Presidency of the Junta, José Ignacio García, presented in Seville a proposal to create a regional law allowing the expropriation of empty homes, with the aim of offering them for affordable rent.

According to García, the initiative seeks to "deprivatize" properties held by large owners, such as banks and investment funds, to combat real estate speculation in the community. The politician emphasized that this measure would focus on the 640,000 empty homes that, according to his assessment, exist in Andalucía, and not on second homes owned by individuals.

"I am not talking about anyone's second home on the beach; I am talking about empty homes that are not in use and are simply used for speculation."

From Ronda de Capuchinos in Seville, García cited the example of two young Germans who, he claims, own 2,600 houses in Spain, many of them across six Andalusian provinces, without residing in any and with a purely speculative interest. He questioned the logic of this situation given the difficulty many Andalusians face in accessing housing.

"No one acquires 2,600 houses by working; that's a lie, no one does it honestly. It is the result of inheritances, investments in investment funds, and speculative businesses."

The candidate criticized the management of the Andalusian Government, led by Moreno Bonilla and the Partido Popular, accusing them of governing in favor of speculators. He insisted on the need for a government that prioritizes housing access for the majority of the Andalusian population.
