The Urban Planning delegate for the City Council of Ronda, Jesús Vázquez, reported on the outcomes of the latest Heritage Commission meeting, which gave the green light to a total of twenty-six actions in Ronda's historic center. The overall investment amounts to 839,250 euros.
The majority of the approved interventions focus on property rehabilitation. Of these, 16 pertain to residential use, 8 are commercial, one is for tourism, and one is religious (the removal of a dry tree specimen from the Convent of the Franciscan Mothers in the San Francisco neighborhood).
Regarding the areas for these actions, five will take place in the San Francisco neighborhood, five in La Ciudad, and one in the Padre Jesús neighborhood. Additionally, the City Council of Ronda will undertake the improvement and replacement of the sidewalk on Sevilla Street, between Lorenzo Borrego Street and Mariano Soubirón Street, using AEPSA funds.
Vázquez highlighted that the current investment approved by the Commission already surpasses that of the entire year 2025, providing legal certainty to investors and enabling the rehabilitation of homes within the historic center.
The delegate reiterated the importance of the Municipal Historical Heritage Commission, established by the City Council in 2025 following the drafting and implementation of the General Urban Planning Plan (PGOU) innovation for the protection of the historic center. This commission expedites actions in this area, which is declared an Asset of Cultural Interest (BIC) by the Junta de Andalucía and covers over 40% of the city's urban core.
Vázquez emphasized the steady progress in the conservation of the historic center, made possible by the approval of the Historic Center Plan and the subsequent delegation of powers, which shortens administrative deadlines.
