The town of Vícar celebrated a new edition of 'Paseando entre Velas' last night, a cultural and tourist event that this year transported its more than 15,000 attendees to the Far East. Mayor Antonio Bonilla highlighted citizen participation and the town's magic in making the festival possible.
The streets of the historic center were adorned with elements of oriental culture, such as lanterns, Chinese fans, murals, and references to KPop, ranging from the Great Wall of China to current icons. The celebration coincided with the peak activity of the Perseids meteor shower, adding a celestial attraction to the night.

Antonio Bonilla emphasized culture's ability to unite and broaden perspectives, describing a Vícar proud of its roots and open to other cultures. He also thanked the San Benito Neighbors Association for their extensive work in organizing the event.
The oriental theme offered a journey with diverse experiences: a walk of cherry blossoms, Tori gates, Terracotta warriors, a violinist on a giant magical skirt, and a Japanese harpist playing the Koto, creating a dreamlike atmosphere.
The event, which surpassed 15,000 attendees, featured a security operation coordinated by the Local Police, Civil Guard, and Civil Protection. Free transportation and a special service for people with reduced mobility were also provided, reinforcing its inclusive nature.
The 12th edition of 'Paseando entre Velas' consolidates its trajectory as a cultural and tourist highlight in the province of Almería. Previous editions included themes such as comics in 2024 and the jungle in 2025, demonstrating a commitment to renewal.
