Within the Andalusian Popular Party, the apparent calm is attributed to an abundance of institutional power and electoral success, which facilitates the distribution of positions. However, tensions persist, though they are better concealed than in the PSOE. An example is councilor Arturo Bernal, from Tourism, who had hoped for a more prominent position on the list for Málaga.
The decision by Patricia Navarro, delegate of the Andalusian Government in Málaga, not to include herself on the regional list by choice, has sparked speculation about her future. While her current position remains, her potential inclusion on a municipal list for the Diputación is being considered. Other names like Manuel Cardeña, president of the Mancomunidad de la Costa del Sol Occidental, have secured their positions, while the inclusion of José Ramón Carmona as number three underscores the party's importance in the province.
The PSOE in Málaga, on the other hand, is experiencing a period of significant turmoil. Two members of the regional executive, Soraya García Mesa and the mayor of Genalguacil, have resigned due to disagreements with the list. Josele Aguilar, provincial secretary and likely candidate for mayor of Málaga, heads the list, with Ana Villarejo in the second position, a personal decision that has generated resentment among veteran socialist women.
The first four positions on the socialist list are considered secure. Daniel Pérez, who had aimed to be a mayoral candidate again, will take the third spot and serve as a parliamentarian in Sevilla. Ruiz Espejo, another former provincial secretary, is in the fifth position, a risky spot. The number four is Patricia Alba, provincial deputy and former delegate of Education of the Junta, who, according to some sources, desired a higher position given her trajectory and rapport with Pepe Bernal.
Daniel Pérez's departure from the Socialist Municipal Group in the capital leaves Mariano Ruiz Araujo as spokesperson until the municipal elections. It has been agreed that he will not be a mayoral candidate but will serve again as a councilor and obtain a deputy position in the Diputación, currently presided over by Francis Salado of the PP. As for Vox, the party has presented Antonio Sevilla as number one for Málaga, maintaining a critical discourse focused on Andalusian identity.
