The incident occurred around seven in the morning, startling residents of Avenida de Europa, Dos Hermanas, and surrounding areas. This is the second fire in the area in less than a month, as the previous one took place approximately 20 days ago, burning about 600 square meters of scrubland.
Following the prior incident, both local residents and the Plataforma Bosque Urbano (Urban Forest Platform) had requested the Malaga City Council to clear and clean the plot. The accumulation of dry vegetation facilitates the rapid spread of flames, as has been demonstrated once again.
It is worth remembering that a urban development project is planned for this land, which includes the construction of a skyscraper, a commercial area, and green spaces. This project awaits legal resolutions from Urban Planning and a court ruling stemming from a dispute between the Malaga City Council and the Plataforma Bosque Urbano, which advocates for dedicating the land entirely to a public park.
