Agents from the Homicide Unit of the Provincial Police Station of Málaga have arrested the alleged perpetrator of the fatal stabbing of a young man that occurred on May 11 in the La Palmilla neighborhood. The arrested individual, aged 27, had been a fugitive and was protected by his family, which hindered his location for several weeks.
According to sources from the provincial police station, the main challenge in the investigation was not identifying the suspect but locating him. The individual remained hidden thanks to the protection of close relatives, forcing investigators to deploy surveillance and tracking operations, as well as resort to "judicial measures" to close in on his whereabouts.
The victim, 29 years old, sustained a stab wound to the chest that affected his lung. Despite being urgently transferred to a hospital, he died approximately one hour later due to the severity of his injuries.
The incident occurred in a public street, on Concejal Pedro Ruiz García street, around 8:00 PM on May 11. The 091 dispatch center received multiple calls reporting a man lying on the ground with a severe chest wound. Officers from the Citizen Security Brigade provided first aid until the arrival of the sanitary services.
The investigation, led by the Homicide Unit, initially pointed towards a possible conflict related to a housing rental between the aggressor and the victim, a hypothesis that the police have now confirmed following the arrest.
