Bailén continues the commemoration of the tricentennial of the birth of Felipe de Neve, founder of Los Angeles, with a military concert-demonstration this Saturday in Plaza General Castaños.
The town of Bailén remains immersed in its program of activities to commemorate the tricentennial of the birth of Felipe de Neve, the distinguished local figure who founded the city of Los Angeles in California.
The next highlight will take place this Saturday, September 19, at 9:00 PM in the Plaza General Castaños. A unique military music concert-demonstration will be offered, where attendees can not only enjoy the musical performance but also witness a recreation of the different movements and orders used in the army of the era, as well as its various formations and maneuvers.
The Historical Reenactment Group of Úbeda, along with the Fife and Drum Group of Bailén, will be the protagonists of this event. They will wear period uniforms, allowing the audience to journey through music and history linked to the context in which Felipe de Neve lived.
Attendance at this event is free until full capacity is reached. The organization invites residents and visitors to participate in an event that aims to bring history closer in a different way and highlight the importance of one of the most significant figures in Bailén's history.
“
"With this new activity, we want to continue bringing the figure of Felipe de Neve closer to our residents and visitors in an attractive way, combining music, historical reenactment, and dissemination to better understand the historical context in which he lived his life."
“
"We are not facing a conventional concert, but an experience that will allow the public to witness how military formations and movements were in that era, accompanied by music and uniforms that will help recreate that historical moment."
This activity follows the commemorative program after the success of the first concert, held on September 12 at the Church of the Incarnation, titled ‘Music in the Time of Felipe de Neve’. That evening featured performances by the Bailén Music Band with a repertoire from great masters such as Bach, Händel, Mozart, Vivaldi, and Pachelbel.
“
"The full house and the reception of last Saturday's concert encourage us to continue with this programming and demonstrate the existing interest in knowing and valuing the figure of Felipe de Neve."
“
"We want this tricentennial to serve for Bailén to know Felipe de Neve even better and, at the same time, to project his figure beyond our locality, remembering the importance he had in the founding of Los Angeles and the historical link that exists between both cities."
The program continues this Saturday with a new event that combines music and historical reenactment in the Plaza General Castaños. The event is organized with the collaboration of the Provincial Council of Jaén and Caja Rural de Jaén.
From the Department of Tourism and Historical Heritage, residents and visitors are encouraged to attend this new event in the tricentennial program, an activity that will allow them to learn, through music and reenactment, about a part of the historical context related to Felipe de Neve, three hundred years after his birth.
