The initiative, presented at La Misericordia beach, one of the key service points, aims to ensure that all citizens can enjoy the sea. Municipal representatives and accessibility association representatives participated in the presentation event.
The program is structured into two main modalities. Three assisted bathing points have been established at the beaches of La Misericordia, La Malagueta, and El Dedo, where specialized staff provide direct support to users in accessing and during their swim.
Additionally, there are five autonomous bathing points located at Guadalmar, San Andrés, La Caleta, Pedregalejo, and El Palo. At these locations, users can independently utilize adapted equipment after requesting access keys at the nursing station.
To enhance the beach experience, the various points are equipped with adapted materials, including amphibious chairs for adults and children, electric hoists, walkers, and crutches. Accessible platforms with shaded areas and adapted loungers are also available.
The assisted bathing service will operate from Monday to Friday until September 15, extending to the weekends of September 19 and 20, and September 26 and 27, from 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM. La Misericordia beach will have six monitors during the morning and afternoon shifts, and two during the midday period, with a maximum capacity of 16 people per shift.
At the beaches of La Malagueta and El Dedo, the service will have three monitors during peak hours and one during off-peak times, with a maximum capacity of nine people per shift. Appointments for assisted bathing can be made by calling 687 674 105.
Among the innovative resources are the audio beach devices, which assist visually impaired individuals through sonic guidance. The program also includes access ramps, concrete walkways, accessible showers, and lifeguard stations.
The Málaga City Council emphasizes that all its beaches are accessible. Furthermore, the beaches of Pedregalejo, La Caleta, El Palo, El Dedo, La Malagueta, La Misericordia, and San Andrés have once again earned the Blue Flag, recognizing their water quality, environmental management, safety, and educational services.
