The San Fernando City Council anticipates its municipal budget for 2027 will reach 122 million euros. The municipal government aims to secure final approval of these accounts before the end of the year to commence the new fiscal year with full operational capacity.
This figure represents an approximate increase of 48% compared to the last four years, an evolution that the executive led by Patricia Cavada has linked to the Council's investment capacity and the reinforcement of public services. The current budget for 2026 stands at 119 million euros.
Key planned investments include the drafting of the project for a future convention center under the grandstand of the new Isla de León football stadium, the remodeling of the Almirante Laulhé Park, and the rehabilitation of the building known as the Red Cross, located on Calle Real.
Furthermore, the transformation of the Alameda cinema into a modern auditorium is planned, with the project to be awarded soon. The new budget will also incorporate the new waste collection and cleaning contract, with an allocation of 15 million euros, and the new parks and gardens maintenance contract, which will see its budget increase by approximately 50%.
The City Council highlights a 220% increase in municipal social services, driven by the municipalization of the home care service. The government team attributes the budgetary growth to increased transfers from the Spanish Government, local economic activity, and the attraction of external funding.
The mayor has indicated that the budgetary growth reflects the economic and urban transformation of San Fernando, with unemployment at its lowest in 19 years, around 7,000 people. The objective is to consolidate this transformation, improve services, and execute strategic projects without raising taxes.
A contained fiscal policy is guaranteed, maintaining one of the lowest tax burdens among Andalusian cities with over 50,000 inhabitants. The increase in budgetary capacity translates into significant investment, positioning San Fernando among Andalusian cities with the highest per capita investment.
