Right on the promenade of Torremolinos, the historic beach restaurant La Mar Bonita has established itself as a gastronomic benchmark, earning a Solete from Guía Repsol and recognition from Guía Macarfi. This establishment, situated directly on the beach of La Carihuela, is famous for its grilled sardines and the freshness of its fish and seafood.

The success of La Mar Bonita lies in the mastery of its chef, Miguel León, considered one of the best sardine grillers in Málaga, who prepares fresh products over coals. The Guía Repsol publication particularly highlights its grilled fish, recommending sea bass, gilt-head bream, octopus, picarel, old wife, red porgy, John Dory, red mullet, turbot, horse mackerel, sardine, sargo, and gilt-head bream. Among its essential dishes, they mention Málaga's coquinas, fresh white shrimp Russian salad, and mussels.

The history of this family business dates back six decades, founded by Ana Peña and Miguel León, the grandparents of the current owners. The León Peña family, now in its fourth generation, has kept alive their passion for the sea and traditional cuisine. "Before La Mar Bonita, there was already a love for the sea. Generations grew up among grilled sardines, sand, and tables full of people sharing good times. Because some things are not taught, they are inherited," they state from the restaurant.

Guía Repsol has praised the restaurant's prime location on the sand of La Carihuela beach, a spot that "charmed Brigitte Bardot," and has emphasized the quality of its grilled fish. Guía Macarfi describes it as a "fresh and traditional beach restaurant," highlighting its "bright and pleasant space, with a terrace that reaches the sand itself."

La Mar Bonita offers a menu specializing in grilled fish and fried dishes, complemented by starters, fresh seafood, salads, and rice dishes, as well as cocktails. The beach restaurant, located on Calle Nerja on the promenade of Torremolinos, is open Tuesdays and Sundays from 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM, and Wednesdays to Saturdays from 11:00 AM to 12:00 AM. It remains closed on Mondays.
