During the ordinary session held today, the Plenary of the Town Hall of Cuevas del Almanzora approved a motion driven by the Socialist Municipal Group. The initiative formally requests the Most Excellent Provincial Council of Almería to fully include the municipality in the route of the future Ecobulevar, part of the Comprehensive Action Plan (PAI) for the Levante Almeriense. The current project route ends at the Palomares gas station.
The proposal, supported by the entire municipal corporation, argues that the sustainable and cycling transformation of the region must cover its entire natural itinerary, avoiding disconnected sections. Specifically, the plenary agreement calls for a review of the project's current design to formally incorporate, with the corresponding budget allocation, the key section between the Palomares roundabout and the district of Villaricos.
The City Council recalls that the original concept for this green mobility axis was conceived by the Cuevas del Almanzora Town Hall itself within its sustainable development strategies (EDUSI). Therefore, it is considered essential that the infrastructure maintains its global vision and is not executed partially, as excluding this sector would reduce the cohesion of a territorial structuring project designed for the benefit of all residents in the area.
Regarding the land classification, the Town Hall has reiterated that the necessary technical documentation has been provided, demonstrating that the land between Palomares and Villaricos is in the process of urbanization.
The approved motion also urges the reinforcement of official information channels and institutional loyalty, requesting that the development of a project of this magnitude be communicated with rigor and transparency to the municipal representatives of the affected localities.
To unblock the situation through constructive collaboration, the Plenary has urgently requested the convening of a bilateral technical and political working group between the City Council and the Provincial Council of Almería. This forum aims to optimally integrate the lands undergoing urbanization into the final design of the route, ensuring a structuring Ecobulevar without patches or exclusions.
This demand is backed by the management capacity and firm commitment of the Town Hall of Cuevas del Almanzora to the urban development and road safety of its coastal districts. An example is the recent completion of the boulevard leading into Villaricos, an urban development project that has enhanced the locality's image, road safety, pedestrian traffic, and energy efficiency, while also highlighting the municipality's heritage and tourist environment.
The success of this infrastructure demonstrates the area's full maturity and the Town Hall's technical capability to integrate sustainable mobility routes, making the exclusion of this area from supramunicipal connection plans even more inconsistent.
