“"Receiving the keys to this space is a dream come true and the first objective I set when I became president of Mijas a year ago. Thank you very much to the mayor and the City Council for their involvement and support so that we can expand the free services we provide to patients and their families."

The Mijas City Council has formalized the transfer of a municipal property to the Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC) for it to establish its headquarters in La Cala, on Antequera street. The agreement, signed by the mayor Ana Mata and the provincial president of the AECC, Juan Carlos Martín, will have an initial duration of ten years, extendable to thirty.
The organization will be able to use this space of approximately 78 square meters, plus an additional 46 square meters of terrace, which it must renovate and adapt for social and health purposes. This is the first time the Cancer Association has its own property in the municipality.
Mayor Ana Mata highlighted the importance of the network of social collectives in Mijas, calling them "absolutely complementary and necessary for public administration." For his part, the provincial president of the AECC, Juan Carlos Martín, emphasized the commitment of the Mijas council to social causes and patient well-being, noting that this location brings the association closer to its goal of achieving a 70% average survival rate by 2030.
The transfer agreement was approved by the Local Government Board on September 26. The use of the property is set for four days a week, and the AECC must submit an annual report of activities to determine compliance with the cession's objectives.
The facilities will offer psychological and social support, wellness workshops, and health services such as physiotherapy, nutrition, and speech therapy. They will include three offices for professionals and for volunteers involved in fundraising, prevention, or support campaigns.
