The council argues that Cuevas del Almanzora possesses the ideal logistical, territorial, and demographic conditions to host the central water service for the Levante Almeriense region. It emphasizes the logistical synergy, as the municipality already houses GALASA's central warehouses and operational bases, which would optimize resources by consolidating customer service.
Geographical proximity to Vera would minimize inconvenience for users accustomed to the current location. Furthermore, the demographic weight of Cuevas del Almanzora, with nearly 17,000 inhabitants and numerous districts, justifies the establishment of supramunicipal services. The aim is also to maintain territorial balance, avoiding overburdening municipalities like Huércal-Overa.
With the motion's approval, the City Council will formalize the request to the Diputación and GALASA management. The Council has committed to providing necessary municipal spaces and offering institutional collaboration to expedite the urban planning and technical procedures.
