The entity's headquarters hosted the first collaborative meeting titled “Sharing experiences with students with Down syndrome.” The event, part of the ‘Al Cole’ program, brought together professionals from various educational centers in the province to exchange knowledge and strengthen collaboration in educational inclusion.
Participants included directors, heads of studies, tutors, counselors, and teachers of Therapeutic Pedagogy (PT) and Hearing and Language (AL) from centers such as Virgilio Valdivia and Torrequebrada in Aguadulce, and Francisco de Goya, Compañía de María, Stella Maris, Mar Mediterráneo, Juan Ramón Jiménez, and Nuestra Señora del Milagro, all located in Almería.
The main objective of the activity was to create a close and dynamic space for professionals to share reflections on the challenges and opportunities presented by the educational inclusion of students with Down syndrome and intellectual disabilities.
Throughout the day, everyday situations arising in classrooms, playgrounds, and common areas were addressed. Attendees shared doubts, concerns, and best practices related to student participation, methodological adaptations, professional coordination, and communication with families, aiming to provide a coherent and quality educational response.
The importance of recognizing and highlighting the students' daily progress was also emphasized, reflecting on how these achievements contribute to the development of academic, social, communicative, and personal autonomy skills.
Asalsido highly values the positive reception of this initiative, underscoring the significance of creating these meeting spaces for mutual learning and strengthening an educational community committed to inclusion.
Through such actions, Asalsido reaffirms its commitment to educational centers, ensuring that children with Down syndrome and intellectual disabilities can maximize their capabilities and fully participate in school life.
