The sporting event will take place at the People Food and Drink restaurant, located on Rafael Alberti street. The Councilor for Sports, Manuel Gutiérrez, along with representatives from the 'El 5-6' Club, Miguel Pérez and Francisco Narváez, highlighted the popularity and tradition of this discipline, which marks its twenty-eighth edition in the capital of Axarquía.
Gutiérrez emphasized the participation of players from different Andalusian provinces as an opportunity for the sporting projection of Vélez-Málaga, in addition to its impact beyond sports, attracting competitors, families, and friends who can enjoy the monumental, cultural, and gastronomic heritage of the area.
The event will kick off at 10:00 AM, with registrations open until 9:30 AM. The tournament will follow a seven-round Swiss system, with a Group B established from the fifth round, as explained by Miguel Pérez. The registration fee is 60 euros per pair and includes lunch.
“"These types of competitions keep our traditions alive, foster coexistence, and contribute to revitalizing the social and sporting activity of the municipality, bringing together participants of different generations around a modality with a strong presence in our city."
The organization has prepared an attractive prize pool with cash rewards for the top finishers. Organizers encourage fans to participate in this day of competition and camaraderie, highlighting the tournament's long history in the region.
