Under the slogan "Together for Nahel's smile", this initiative, promoted by the Torrox Athletics Club and Torrox Run Club, seeks to support a child from Frigiliana suffering from IRF2BPL syndrome. This rare disorder affects neurodevelopment and can lead to the progressive loss of acquired abilities such as speech and mobility.
Since there is currently no cure for this disease in Spain, the funds raised will be used to promote research and facilitate access to experimental treatments. The race will take place in a "backyard" format along the promenade, with a circuit of approximately four kilometers.
The event is designed for runners to take turns, keeping the circuit active for 24 consecutive hours. This format eliminates competitive pressure, allowing each participant to manage their involvement, whether by completing one or several laps, resting, and rejoining later. The main objective is to ensure that at least one person is always moving so that the race never stops.
Registration has a symbolic cost of five euros, which will be entirely dedicated to the cause. In addition, a parallel donation campaign has been set up for those who wish to collaborate without directly participating in the race. The organizers emphasize that this initiative not only seeks to raise funds but also to give visibility to this little-known disease and generate a movement of support around the child's family.
