The Torrox Town Council has taken a decisive step towards the construction of what will be Andalusia's second longest wooden bridge, awarding the works for a value exceeding 700,000 euros.

The municipality of Torrox is advancing in the improvement of its coastline with the awarding of works for the construction of a 165-meter long wooden bridge. This project, announced in January, has been entrusted to the company Urinci S.L.U. for an amount of 717,179.75 euros.
This infrastructure will allow pedestrians to cross the Torrox river, connecting the existing section between Punta del Faro and Peñoncillo beach. It will become the second longest wooden bridge in the autonomous community, only surpassed by the one located at the mouth of the Guadalhorce river in Málaga capital, which is more than 100 meters longer than the one in Torrox and connects Sacaba Beach with Guadalmar.
The awarded company will have a period of eight months for the execution of the work, starting from the formalization of the contract. This action is part of the improvements to the municipality's coastal area, providing continuity to the existing Coastal Path.
The walkway will be located next to the Lighthouse and very close to the archaeological site of the Roman Villa. It will be three meters wide and built entirely with Scots pine wood. The project also includes approximately 100 meters of access routes to facilitate pedestrian traffic.
Thanks to this intervention, Torrox will connect the four kilometers of path already completed. According to municipal sources, this infrastructure is key for the development of the coastal corridor. The total estimated investment, announced in January 2026, was approximately two million euros, which also included the supply of materials.
The Town Council plans to continue collaborating with the Málaga Provincial Council to complete the pedestrian connection along its entire coastline, through the construction of new sections of the Coastal Path.
