The race presentation was attended by representatives from the Mancomunidad de Municipios de la Costa del Sol and the Sayalonga Town Council, who highlighted the importance of this event for promoting sports and tourism in the locality. Around a hundred runners are expected to participate, drawn by the natural beauty of this Axarquía village.
“"Sayalonga is a very active municipality in sports, as well as in maintaining its traditional festivities. With this popular race, it once again demonstrates the importance they place on participatory activities."
The main route, spanning 8 kilometers, will wind through rural paths, crossing fields of loquats, avocados, mangoes, and vineyards. Participants will pass by emblematic spots such as the Puente de Los Molinos and the Puente de Los Lavaderos. Both the start and finish lines will be located in Rafael Alcoba Square, with the race commencing at 11:30 AM.
In addition to the main event, urban races have been organized for children's categories, ranging from 8 to 18 years old, with distances varying between 600 and 1,200 meters. These races for younger participants will start at 10:30 AM. An inclusive category has also been included to encourage everyone's participation.
Trophies will be awarded to the top three finishers in both male and female categories, and each participant will receive a runner's bag. As a novelty this year, a special prize has been established at the Puente del Molino, consisting of local products.
The registration deadline is Thursday, April 23, at 11:59 PM. The cost is 2 euros for categories up to youth and 5 euros for all others. Registrations can be made through the Andalusian Athletics Federation's website. Race bibs will be collected at Rafael Alcoba Square.
