The Rubén Ruzafa Municipal Indoor Pavilion, located in Torre de Benagalbón, will be the center of this competition, expecting to bring together approximately one hundred athletes of various ages and skill levels. The initiative is supported by the Málaga Delegation of the Andalusian Badminton Federation and the Sports Department of the local City Council.
The Councilor for Sports, Antonio José Martín, highlighted the circuit's inclusive nature, allowing participation from both registered and unregistered players. Mayor Francisco Salado emphasized the importance of Rincón de la Victoria hosting sports events that promote participation and community, as well as showcasing the municipality.
Antonio Rico, technical director of the Jorge Guiñen Badminton Club and the Municipal Badminton School of Rincón de la Victoria, expressed gratitude for the support of the competition, noting its role in promoting grassroots sports. Around twenty local players are expected to participate.
The tournament will commence around 9:30 AM and will feature singles and doubles categories. The circuit includes divisions ranging from mini-badminton to senior, as well as U-13, U-15, U-17, U-19, U-23, and Open categories, with separate competitions for registered and unregistered players.
Three participation levels are established: C (beginner), B (intermediate), and A (intermediate/advanced registered players). Levels B and C allow participation with or without a federation license. Medals will be awarded to the top four finishers in each event and category, along with a recognition for the local revelation player at each venue.
Registration will remain open until Tuesday, September 22nd. Participation is free for players from Rincón de la Victoria, while participants from other municipalities will have a registration fee of 5 euros.
