Work was suspended after unforeseen circumstances were detected in the subsoil, necessitating new construction solutions. Following an agreement on a constructive approach among the contractor, the site management, and municipal technicians, the Nerja Town Hall's Governing Board authorized the drafting of a Modified Project.
This modified project incorporates a new foundation using micropiles, adjustments to the containment system, and adaptation of the design to the actual plot geometry. After its submission to the Town Hall and receiving favorable reports from the municipal architect and the head of the Infrastructure Service, the document was sent on June 4th to the Provincial Council's Technical Office for Project Supervision.
Since then, the provincial institution has issued three unfavorable reports, requesting corrections that, to date, prevent the final approval of the project. Mayor José Alberto Armijo has described these delays as "incomprehensible" and "inadmissible," urging an immediate solution to unblock the situation and resume the library's construction, a project co-financed by the Nerja Town Hall and the Provincial Council of Malaga.
