The thirtieth league matchday in Group IV of Segunda Federación proved unfavorable for Real Jaén. In addition to their defeat against Atlético Malagueño, the results of other contenders for the promotion play-offs to Primera Federación also did not benefit them, placing the team in seventh position with 48 points. They are currently five points behind the leaders and three points away from the coveted fifth spot.
The battle for direct promotion remains intense. UCAM Murcia, who led the table, lost their position after falling 2-0 to Deportiva Minera. This result leaves UCAM Murcia in third place with 52 points, while Deportiva Minera becomes co-leader with 53 points. CD Extremadura also joins the top of Group IV, reaching 53 points after a 2-3 victory over Yeclano Deportivo.
Meanwhile, Águilas FC broke a negative streak of three consecutive defeats by beating Xerez DFC 3-0, a team fighting for permanence. The Murcian side is now in fourth place with 52 points, matching UCAM Murcia.
The matchday was also painful for Xerez CD, who, along with UCAM Murcia and Real Jaén, was one of the biggest losers. The Xerez team fell in added time against Salerm Puente Genil 0-1, which drops them to fifth position with 51 points, the same as Recreativo de Huelva. Recreativo, however, secured a vital 1-0 victory against La Unión Atlético, keeping their aspirations alive.
With only four matchdays remaining, Real Jaén has lost ground but still holds onto hope. Manolo Herrero's team has three of their next four matches at La Victoria and will seek a crucial win this Sunday against La Unión Atlético on Matchday 31. The upcoming matchday looks challenging for their direct rivals: CD Extremadura will face Recreativo de Huelva, Deportiva Minera and Águilas FC will play away against teams fighting relegation, and Xerez CD will visit Lorca Deportiva, while UCAM Murcia will host Atlético Malagueño.
