Jaén Cathedral will host a charity concert on April 25, where the University of Jaén Orchestra and Choir will perform Joseph Haydn's 'Stabat Mater', with all proceeds going to ASPACE Jaén.

The event, titled 'Primavera Sacra' (Sacred Spring), will take place at Jaén Cathedral and feature a performance of Stabat Mater (Hob. XXa:1) by Joseph Haydn, a composition from 1767 considered one of the Austrian composer's most significant sacred works. The initiative has a strong charitable focus, as all funds raised will be donated to ASPACE Jaén, an association celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2026.
This concert is organized by the Vice-Rectorate of Culture of the UJA, in collaboration with the Cathedral Chapter. It is also part of the charity project of the Cofradía de la Buena Muerte, a brotherhood commemorating its first centenary. The official presentation of the event was held this Tuesday in the Chapter House of the Cathedral, with the participation of prominent figures such as Marta Torres, Vice-Rector for Culture; Francisco Juan Rojas Martínez, Dean; Raquel Hernández, elder sister of the brotherhood; and Almudena García, Vice-President of ASPACE Jaén.
The lineup of soloists will include emerging Andalusian talents with experience on national and international stages: Lucía Millán (soprano), Julia Merino (mezzo-soprano), Marcelo Solís (tenor), and Francisco Bermudo (baritone), who will also conduct the Choir. The Orchestra will be led by Daniel García Caro. Haydn's Stabat Mater was the piece that brought him his first major international recognition, quickly circulating throughout Europe, noted for its intense harmonies and rich chromaticism.
The concert will begin at 8:30 PM, and the donation for admission is 10 euros. Tickets can be purchased through the official website of Jaén Cathedral, at the Puerta de Santa Catalina (from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM and from 5:00 PM to 7:30 PM), or at the box office on the day of the event (from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM). For those unable to attend, a 'fila 0' (zero row) option is also available on the Cathedral's website, allowing contributions to the cause without attending the venue.
