The incident occurred on Tuesday morning, around 8:00 AM, when the vehicle, carrying diesel fuel, overturned on its side. The 112 Emergency Service coordinated the response, deploying officers from the Marmolejo Local Police, road maintenance personnel, 061 health services, and a unit from the Andújar Fire Department.
The driver, a 62-year-old man, sustained a head laceration. After receiving initial treatment at the scene, he was transported by the Marmolejo Local Police to the Alto Guadalquivir Hospital in Andújar for a more thorough medical evaluation.
Upon the arrival of the Andújar Fire Department, medical personnel were already attending to the injured driver, and a fuel leak from the tanker had been detected. The firefighters' efforts focused on containing the leak and collecting the spilled diesel fuel with portable equipment, aiming to minimize risks and prevent the spill from spreading.
The company owning the damaged truck also arrived at the scene, arranging for the vehicle's removal with a heavy-duty crane. Normal traffic conditions on the A-4 were restored during the afternoon, once the removal and cleanup operations were completed.
