The Mijas Tourist Office has become the venue for a new exhibition dedicated to local craftsmanship, organized by the Mijas Artisanal Association (AAM). The exhibition, open to the public until October 30th, features the creations of artisans Laura Benavides Carrera and Humildad Ríos Escalona.
The displayed pieces include accessories made with polymer clay, the specialty of Laura Benavides Carrera (known as Quejojoyas), as well as illustrations on various supports such as ceramics, esparto grass, cellulose, wood, and natural leaves, by Humildad Ríos Escalona. Both artisans highlighted the importance of this space as a showcase to gain visibility and promote their work.
The Councilor for Tourism, Francisco Jerez, emphasized that the Tourist Office is an ideal location to exhibit Mijas's craftsmanship, allowing visitors and residents to discover the local identity through these creations. He highlighted the quality and detail of the pieces, describing them as "unique" and "very eye-catching".
This initiative is part of the City Council's efforts to give greater projection to the municipality's craftsmanship. Jerez stated that "valuing" the work of local artisans and ensuring their creations are part of Mijas's image "beyond our borders" is a key objective.
The exhibition can be visited from Mondays to Fridays, between 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM, at the Mijas Tourist Office.
