Following the recent Jaén Villages Fair, which highlighted the heritage and tourism of the province's 97 municipalities, IFEJA once again becomes the epicenter of Jaén's cuisine. The Degusta Jaén Fair promises a varied program to delight food lovers, with free admission throughout the weekend.
The opening day on Saturday, April 18, will kick off with a tasting of EVOOs, wines, and cheeses from Jaén, an activity that will be repeated on Sunday, April 19. Attendees can sample olive oils from the IGP Aceite de Jaén and DOP Sierra Mágina, as well as wines and cheeses selected by the Jaén Sommeliers Association.
Concurrently, the Gastronomic Zone will host a festival of tapas and dishes made with Degusta Jaén products. For just 3 euros, visitors can try delicacies such as transhumant Segureño lamb from Santiago Pontones and fresh seafood from La Mar Salá, available on both Saturday and Sunday.
The 'pipirrana jaenera,' one of the star dishes of spring and summer in the province, will be a highlight on Sunday, April 19, with live demonstrations of its preparation by the El Dornillo Gastronomic Brotherhood.
In addition to the culinary offerings, the event will feature performances by comedians like Eva y Qué and Pepe El Caja, family cooking workshops, and the Peque Chef activity. There will also be opportunities to win product baskets from Degusta Jaén and Sabor Granada. On Monday, the venue will host a professional conference not open to the general public.
