The Monthly Employment Statistics, published by the Ministry of Labour and Social Economy, indicate that this reduction is lower than that of the previous year, when unemployment fell by more than a thousand people. The services sector has been the main driver of this decrease, with 459 new employees, followed by industry (124 less), agriculture (74 less), and construction (54 less).
In the Andalusian context, Granada ranks as the second province with the smallest decrease in unemployment in June, only ahead of Huelva. Cádiz leads the regional decline with 3,933 fewer people, followed by Málaga (3,123) and Seville (1,835).
Nationally, registered unemployment in public employment service offices decreased by 28,739 people in June, a 1.2% drop compared to the previous month, mainly attributed to the services sector and the start of the summer season in tourism and hospitality.
Trade unions, such as CCOO Granada and UGT, view the unemployment decrease positively but insist on the need to improve salaries and promote more stable jobs. Gabriela García, head of Employment for CCOO Granada, lamented that the recovery relies on seasonal factors and a production model overly dependent on the services sector. UGT highlighted the importance of policies aimed at labor stability and improving working conditions, emphasizing the need for decent employment and better conditions for women, who face greater precariousness.
