The average benefit amount per household is 578.03 euros per month, totaling 19.2 million euros in this month's payroll. Statistics reveal a marked female profile among beneficiaries: 70% of household heads (21,595) and 52.6% of individuals (48,599) are women.
The Sub-delegation of the Spanish Government in Granada has highlighted that the IMV prioritizes child protection. Currently, 36,459 children and adolescents are beneficiaries in the province, representing 39.5% of the total. Since 2020, a total of 55,888 minors have been covered by this benefit.
Analysis of beneficiary households underscores the connection between economic vulnerability and single-parent family structures, predominantly headed by women. Of the recipient households, 4,743 are single-parent, indicating a higher exposure to precariousness in these cases.
The Child Aid Supplement (CAPI) extends IMV coverage with additional aid per child. In July, 21,059 households received this supplement, averaging 67.90 euros per minor and 120.61 euros per household. Amounts vary by child's age, from 115 euros for those under 3 to 57.5 euros for those aged 6 to 18.
CAPI can be applied for independently of the IMV, with broader income thresholds, reaching households with low or moderate incomes. For instance, a family of two adults and two minors could access it with incomes up to 4,182 euros per month.
The IMV also serves as an inclusion tool for young people, with an average beneficiary age of 27.9 years (19.9 years excluding heads of household). Its compatibility with earned income and incentives for labor market integration aim to facilitate access to employment. Improvements have been made for young people, such as the possibility of applying from age 18 or for emancipated minors with children, and the required period of independent living for those under 30 has been reduced from 3 to 2 years.
Since its inception, the IMV has reached over 45,000 households and benefited more than 113,117 people in the province, guaranteeing a minimum income level and combating poverty and social exclusion, with a special focus on minors.
To apply for the IMV, one must have resided legally, effectively, and continuously in Spain for the preceding year and be in a state of economic vulnerability. Those who exhaust unemployment benefits can access it automatically. The dual income review system allows beneficiaries to know in advance any adjustments to their benefit.
