Iznalloz to Host Heritage Days Featuring Unprecedented Exhibition and Cultural Activities

The municipality in Granada strengthens its connection with history and culture through a diverse program from April 12 to 21.

The municipality of Iznalloz, in Granada, will host its third Heritage Days from April 12 to 21, featuring a diverse program aimed at bringing local history and culture closer to all audiences.

This initiative, spanning over a week, primarily aims to highlight the historical, cultural, and social richness of Iznalloz and its surroundings. The program includes cultural, educational, and informative activities designed to strengthen the community's connection with its heritage, understanding it as a living element that links past, present, and future.

The inauguration of the days will take place next Sunday with the opening of the exhibition Mater Remediorum - Heritage of Faith. This unprecedented exhibition will display, for the first time, the heritage linked to Nuestra Señora de los Remedios. Pilar Caracuel and Jacinto Molinero, Councillor for Culture and Heritage of Iznalloz, were present at the program's presentation.
Among the prominent activities, from April 13 to 15, dynamic visits will be conducted for students from the three primary schools in the town, offering educational tours about the history and heritage of Iznalloz. On April 15, in collaboration with the Los Montes Permanent Education Center, a guided heritage tour will highlight the influence of Roman, Arab, and Christian civilizations on the municipality.
On April 16, a cultural trip to Granada will be organized, including visits to the Royal Chapel, the Cathedral, and the Monastery of San Jerónimo, seeking to establish historical and artistic links with Iznalloz's heritage, especially through the figure of the Renaissance architect Diego de Siloé. On April 17, the study, cleaning, and enhancement works of the Roman Bridge of Los Ventorrillos, funded by the Diputación de Granada, will be presented.
On Saturday, April 18, International Day for Monuments and Sites, the II Theatrical Heritage Route White Night will be held, one of the most anticipated activities. Through theatrical performances and musical acts in various heritage sites, the history of the municipality from Roman times, through the Andalusian period, to the Christian era will be explored, with the participation of local artists and the music band from the “El Almirez” Municipal School.
On April 19, a cultural trip to Montefrío and Moclín will take place to highlight the historical connections with Iznalloz, especially regarding the Nasrid defensive system and the well-known “Siete Villas”. On Monday, April 20, students from IES Montes Orientales will visit the Parish Church of Nuestra Señora de los Remedios. The days will conclude on April 21 with a guided visit to the Mater Remediorum exhibition for the elderly residents of the municipality.
