The Huelva town of Trigueros becomes, once again, an epicenter of Cuban culture with the thirteenth edition of CubaCultura 2026. The cycle, co-organized by the Provincial Council of Huelva and the Trigueros City Council, faces its final days with a notable offering that includes music, documentary film, theater, and literature.
This Saturday, the main musical event will be led by the collective Habana Abierta, who will perform a concert at 10:00 PM in the emblematic Convent of Santa Catalina. This group of Cuban musicians is one of the highlights of the program, which began last Wednesday, August 19.
This year's edition kicked off with the inauguration of three photographic exhibitions at the Harina de Otro Costal Art Center: ‘Retrospectiva inconclusa’ by Alberto Díaz ‘Korda’, ‘Otra música’ by Silvio Rodríguez, and ‘Cuba Iluminada: 10 años’ by Héctor Garrido. The opening day concluded with a performance by La Dame Blanche.
The following days were dedicated to Cuban documentary cinema, featuring the screening of ‘Al Oeste, en Zapata’ and a discussion with its director, David Bim. On Friday, visual arts took center stage with guided tours and the exhibition of the documentaries ‘Sencillamente Korda’ and ‘Ellos son Cuba iluminada’.
Following Habana Abierta's concert, the festival's final stretch will include film, theater, and literature. On Sunday, ‘A media voz’ will be screened, followed by a talk with Patricia Pérez. On Monday the 24th, theater will be presented with the play ‘Jacuzzi’ by Yunior García Aguilera, who will also launch his book ‘Teatro’.
Literature will be the focus on Tuesday the 25th, with the presentation of ‘Objetos perdidos’ by Karla Suárez and ‘Habitación con cielo’ by Héctor Garrido. Finally, the closing event will be on Wednesday, August 26, featuring a closing concert by X Alfonso, accompanied by Cuban ambiance and cocktails.
