The decision, driven by Mayor Carmen Álvarez, marks the beginning of the administrative process to grant this distinction to the renowned local hospitality entrepreneur. The proceedings will include a public information period, in accordance with the Municipal Regulations on Honors and Distinctions.
The proposal, which received unanimous support in the July plenary session, has also been backed by various local associations. The mayor highlighted the figure of Fernando Bigote as an ambassador for Sanlúcar, intrinsically linked to its gastronomy, seafood products, and seafaring tradition.

Carmen Álvarez further emphasized that Fernando Bigote's 70-year career at the Casa Bigote restaurant in Bajo de Guía has transcended his professional activity to promote Sanlúcar and highlight its primary sectors, agriculture, and fishing.
The mayor concluded by stating that Fernando Bigote is part of Sanlúcar's history and of a generation that helped build the city's current prestige, having introduced the locality to thousands of people through its gastronomy.
